FreeBMD-Admins Mailing List
FreeBMD-Admins-L
lists9Topic: This list is a Questions and Answers forum for transcribers and volunteers.
FreeBMD stands for Free Births, Marriages, and Deaths. The objective of the FreeBMD Project is to provide free Internet access to the Civil Registration index information for England and Wales that is greater than 100 years old. More recent data will be accepted but will be stored until we are able to publish it, either because it is 100 years old or because the Office for National Statistics (ONS) gives us wider permissions.
FreeBMD is dependant on volunteers to transcribe the Civil Registration Index and currently over 26 million record are in the database and growing at the rate of about 70 thousand new records every day. What is needed are transcribers! There is a Web page for the FreeBMD-Admins mailing list at http://FreeBMD.rootsweb.com.
