FreeBMD-Admins Mailing List
Topic: This list is a Questions and Answers forum for transcribers and volunteers.
FreeBMD stands for Free Births, Marriages, and Deaths. The objective of the FreeBMD Project is to provide free Internet access to the Civil Registration index information for England and Wales that is greater than 100 years old. More recent data will be accepted but will be stored until we are able to publish it, either because it is 100 years old or because the Office for National Statistics (ONS) gives us wider permissions.
FreeBMD is dependent on volunteers to transcribe the Civil Registration Index and currently over 26 million records are in the database and growing at the rate of about 70 thousand new records every day. What is needed are transcribers!
There is a Web page for the FreeBMD-Admins mailing list at http://FreeBMD.rootsweb.com.

- Subscribing. Clicking on one of the shortcut links below should work, but if your browser doesn't understand them, try these manual instructions: to join FreeBMD-Admins-L, send mail to FreeBMD-Admins-Lemail@example.com with the single word subscribe in the message subject and body. To join FreeBMD-Admins-D, do the same thing with FreeBMD-Admins-Dfirstname.lastname@example.org.
- Unsubscribing. To leave FreeBMD-Admins-L, send mail to FreeBMD-Admins-Lemail@example.com with the single word unsubscribe in the message subject and body. To leave FreeBMD-Admins-D, do the same thing with FreeBMD-Admins-Dfirstname.lastname@example.org.
- Archives. You can search the archives for a specific message or browse them, going from one message to another. Some list archives are not available; if there is a link here to an archive but the link doesn't work, it probably just means that no messages have been posted to that list yet.
